Amy Andrychowicz

Hi, I'm Amy Andrychowicz, wife, cat mom, plant lover, CEO, book author, and the creator of Get Busy Gardening®.

I started this website back in 2009 as a way to share my gardening knowledge with my friends and family. What began as a hobby blog quickly grew into a thriving business.

I wrote my first eBook in 2013, created my first online gardening course in 2014, quit my corporate job in 2016, wrote my first published book in 2017, and created the Garden Growth Framework™ in 2023.

But my gardening journey started loooong before all of this…

I’ve been gardening for most of my life, and I spent years struggling and spinning my wheels, desperately trying to make everything work - and battling ALL of the bugs, weeds, and plant problems.

The more I fought with my garden, the harder it became - and I just kept thinking: “There has GOT to be a better way!”.

All that hard work left me feeling exhausted and frustrated… and I thought the problem was me, but the real problem was that my garden was out of balance.

Once I stopped trying to fight against my garden and started building a balanced ecosystem that supported strong, healthy plants everything clicked into place – and my garden started to thrive.

Now I want to help you make that same shift: from fighting all of the bugs, weeds, and plant problems, and struggling just to keep up with maintenance – to naturally balancing your garden so everything becomes so much easier – using my proven system, the Garden Growth Framework.

This is the system that I designed to take the overwhelm and frustration out of gardening, and it’s the foundation of everything I’ve been writing about for almost 20 years now. Now I’m absolutely thrilled to finally be able to teach it to you inside the Garden Growth Course!

This is the system I used for many years in my zone 4b gardens back in MN, and it’s the same system I’m using today in my zone 10b gardens here in CA - so I know first hand that it works no matter what growing zone or climate you live in.

Learn more about how I can help you on Get Busy Gardening’s About page.

My Personal Background

I grew up and gardened for most of my life in Minneapolis, Minnesota, zone 4b, but I always dreamed of living in California.

So in 2020 I packed up the cats and the hubby, and we moved to San Diego, CA, zone 10b, where I can finally live my life-long dream of being able to grow outdoors year-round, and hone in on my warm-season gardening skills.

Now I spend most of my free time (365 days a year!!) working to transform our new backyard into a gardening oasis.

I’m pretty sure I’ve bought 1000s of plants over my lifetime - and I love growing ALL of the plants! Vegetables, herbs, annuals, perennials, succulents, tropical plants, houseplants - you name it, I've grown it!

I have a Masters Degree in Software Engineering, and I worked as a Computer Programmer for several years before starting my own business.

Yep, I was a nerd by day, gardener by night (and weekends). What can I say, I like exercising both sides of my brain! 😂

Here Are 5 Fun Facts About Me…

  1. I’m terrified of yellow jackets because I have very bad reactions to their sting. I think it’s a normal fear, but probably not for a gardener. 😅
  2. My favorite TV show of all time is Friends, so I’ll probably throw in a reference to that now and then. 😬
  3. I get my sense of humor from my dad - but I’ll try to refrain from telling too many “dad jokes”. 🤣
  4. I moved across the country during a global pandemic. 😷
  5. Emojis are my love language (in case you haven’t noticed) 😍😘
