In case you missed it, this year I’m teaming up with Suståne to build and enrich the soil in our community garden plots using their all natural fertilizers. The soil at the community garden isn’t that great, so it’s the perfect testing ground. I first told you about my experiment in this post… Natural Fertilizer For Garden Vegetables. Well the results are in, and now I get to tell you all about my testing and experience using these organic fertilizers.
Suståne All Natural Fertilizers
I’ve never used natural commercial fertilizers in my gardens before because I used to be totally intimidated by them. So when Suståne reached out to me to see if I would like to try out their products, of course I did my research. Turns out that Suståne organic fertilizer products are not only all natural, but they are pretty much fool-proof to use. Yes! That’s just the kind of natural fertilizer I needed to try!
You see, when I was a newbie gardener and started looking at what types of fertilizer to use in my gardens, things were super complicated. Back then, there weren’t any one-stop solutions for natural fertilizers. Just walking down the fertilizer isle at the garden center scared the heck out of me, and it all sounded like WAY too much work! It seemed like there was so much room for error, and I was destined to fail. This is where Suståne comes to the rescue.
Besides the fact that it’s completely natural, the thing I love the most about Suståne natural fertilizers is that they are super easy to use. The instructions on the package are clear and straight forward, no crazy amounts of measuring and mixing necessary. Plus, there’s no risk of over fertilizing and burning your plants, so there’s plenty of room for error.
The Testing Grounds…
Like I said, I put Suståne natural fertilizers to the test in my community gardens this summer. I decided to do a side by side comparison of some of my kale and brussels sprout plants so that I could easily monitor the difference in both the health and production of the plants.
I’ve been following the instructions on the package to top dress my plants a few times over the growing season, and it’s been really easy to keep up with the schedule. Plus like I said earlier, there is a lot of room for error using these fertilizers, which means I didn’t have to worry about getting the measurement exact every time. So, after the first few applications I was easily able to eyeball it, which made fertilizing my plants even easier.
My Experience Using Suståne Products
The results of the test were evident pretty quickly after I top dressed the plants with fertilizer granules. The plants that I used the fertilizer on were visibly larger and fuller than the plants that didn’t get fertilized. I mean, you could really tell the difference, even at first glance. Here you can easily see the difference in two of the plants towards the end of the growing season…
The plant that I used the fertilizer on (on the left) is ready to harvest a full month before my brussels sprouts were ready last year. Yippie!
I had the same experience on my kale plants too. The leaves on the fertilized kale plants are larger and fuller than the plants that I didn’t fertilize, and I have been harvesting off the fertilized kale plants for a few weeks now. Oh, and while I was at it, I decided to top dress my marigolds too. WOW, they look amazing! They are much bigger than the ones in the other garden plot, so awesome!
The results are pretty easy to see! I would definitely recommend Suståne natural fertilizers and will be using them in my garden from now on! (Now that my tests are over, I’m going to give all my plants a top dressing to give them a nice boost so they will fill out over the next month, and catch up a bit) Give it a try and see the difference for yourself.
